After six years of being host to the popular 'Tour Series' televised town centre cycle race, Aberystwyth was not chosen by organisers Sweetspot as a venue for 2017 due to a new shorter format of the series which made it geographically unviable to visit this year.
Despite this, the legacy of six years of evolving the race into a much bigger festival of cycling means that the popular race will continue in 2017, thanks to our very experienced team of organisers, helpers and stakeholders. We're working closely with Ceredigion County Council to deliver an alternative to Tour Series and this includes all of the children's races, the Town v Gown fun race and all the other adult races that spectators are used to seeing each year.
We will have full details of the new format for the Friday event and instructions on how to enter the races on the 15th March.
AberCycleFest begins on the 21st May with a round of the Welsh Mountain Bike Series at Nant yr Arian, and this is followed by a week full of fringe events in and around town. This leads into the festival weekend with Friday's town centre races, Saturday's MTB downhill on Consitution Hill, and the hillclimb knockout race at Llanbadarn, culminating in Sunday's Welsh Wild West sportive.
Look out for our new website which goes live on April 1st!
